Monday afternoon at the research center

Ugh,  I’m getting really sleepy. The blended drink I bought a few hrs ago should’ve been coffee based, instead of chocolate. I want to sleep but I can’t do that in the center. Well, I could but then I wouldn’t get any work done. Not that I’m doing anything productive right now, but you get what I mean.

Time check: It’s 2:37pm in my laptop’s clock right now.

I keep on checking twitter, I wish Kristen Bell, Jessica Alba, and Jesse McCartney read my replies. Maybe even retweet one?

*sigh

Oh yeah, my sisters and I watched Despicable Me last night. The movie was so funny and cute. Aww..

I’m really bored right now. Nothing’s happening, and I wish I hadn’t forgotten my earphones back in my dorm.

I usually enjoy the hours I’m at the center doing research, but today’s a Monday. Mondays are slow, not the usual fun atmosphere here during weekdays. Or maybe it’s ‘cause it’s still early in the afternoon. During weekdays, I’m here late so maybe the mood is a bit lighter.

Look how bored I am, even typing this post made me even more sleepy. Oh well, I better get back to researching, I might even get some shut eye, not purposely but you never know, my eyelids might close on their own.

Internship time

I’m currently an intern in one of the research centers in my university. After my first day, I wanted to resign right away. Come on, I needed to complete 50 hrs a month for 3 months in order to complete the program. An internship isn’t even a requirement for graduation, I just wanted to try it out.

After my 3rd day interning, I started to look forward to going to the center. The atmosphere is really fun and I get to join in on round table discussions on reviewing submitted working papers. It makes me feel so “academic”.

It’s not one of those internships where the staff ask you to go on coffee runs, make copies and all that. I actually get to assist a researcher in data gathering for her current study. I get to make transcriptions of interviews and forums. And I get to attend academic writing forums without going through the selection process ‘cause I help out in organizing the event sponsored by the center.

Hmm. I just described my internship at a research center as “fun”. Woah, I am one geeky girl.

August 29 Midnight Realization

Girls have a serious knack at finding ways to pin the blame on guys when the relationship goes awry. Yesiree, I've just recently realized that little tidbit.

Those days

My roommate is no Harry Potter fan. She doesn’t even know the main characters of the story, she only knows that Harry Potter is a wizard. And that’s it. I guess my enthusiasm (maybe even fanaticism?) was really contagious ‘cause she asked me to let her read the books. I lent her book 1.

As I took it down from my shelf, I realized how old it looked. Its pages have yellowed with age, its edges becoming a bit crispy. It has been ten years since the Harry Potter craze first broke out, when I was in my 4th grade. Book 1 was the first novel I ever finished, it was what started my love of reading. Up to now (between my required readings), I still read a lot of books both fiction and non-fiction (though I prefer fiction :).

All my Harry Potter books had these pieces of paper in them, to mark events as I was reading them that I thought would be used as a reference in future scenes. Yes, I was very much devoted to the series.

I remember eagerly awaiting JK Rowling’s next installment in the series after finishing a book; I also remember the bittersweet feeling as I flipped through the final pages of Book 7, the very day it was released.

…

I think I’m gonna read them again one more time ;)

I get bored in class

Whenever I get bored or sleepy in class, I like doodling around the margins of my notes. Who doesn’t, right?

I find myself fascinated and drawn to my chess piece drawings. I mean, I’m no Van Gogh, but still, it makes me happy.

I wonder why. Hmm…

First* Blog Post

*I had a blog before this. But there have been major changes in my life that I thought of starting a new one.

I have no delusions that someone is going to be reading this, just that I spend a lot of time on my laptop writing papers that maybe it's more efficient if I input my thoughts online than on paper where my roommate might stumble upon it and read the entries. At least I won't have a nagging question whether someone has been reading my entries, since a) I don't expect anyone to read this; b) even if someone does, I have anonymity.

Yes, I have a roommate since I live in a dorm. I'm a college student in (arguably) the best university. My GPA is slightly above average at best, but I had a sudden shift in major 'cause I couldn't cut it in my old one. Sucks.

Oh well, what's done is done. Maybe I'll be happier here, though I can't see how.

Whoa. This entry is a little too gloomy for my taste. I'll post another one later, I'm kinda late for my next class.

Bye.
